Facing Challenges

The Gospel of Mark describes the hopeless condition of an unnamed woman. Mark 5:25-26 states, “Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse.” Saying that this woman was facing challenging circumstances is putting it mildly. She was in the middle of what looked like a hopeless situation. But she knew that being discouraged about her circumstances was not going to bring her the healing she needed. Only Jesus could do that. So, she made up her mind that she would get to Him. Her life depended on it.

Are you facing a challenge right now? Do your circumstances seem hopeless? Consider this:

Decide to find a way.

For the woman with the issue of blood, getting to Jesus was no easy task. Not only was there a big crowd around Him that she had to get through, but she was considered unclean because of her bleeding. If the crowd took notice of her, you can be sure they would have done everything they could to make her go away. However, this woman knew that Jesus was her only hope and she decided to let nothing stop her. How determined are you to find a way to get around your challenge?

Look for an opportunity.

This is not the time to focus on the obstacles or roadblocks in your path. Instead, start looking for an opportunity. The woman in Mark 5 knew that Jesus was the opportunity she needed and she did not let anything stop her from taking it. Have you considered all of your options for opportunities?

Do whatever it takes.

Imagine the scene as the woman struggled to get close enough to Jesus to touch the hem of His robe. I think you will agree that this was not an easy thing for her to do. But she determined to find a way. Are you determined enough to do whatever it takes to get around your challenge?

The eyes of the Lord are on you and your circumstances. His ears hear your cries. He knows about everything you are going through. You are not forgotten. No matter how challenging things may look, your heavenly Father is with you. He will allow situations and circumstances to present themselves that will help you to have the strength and wisdom to get through. Never doubt that He sees you and hears your cries.

If you are going through a challenging situation, stand on the promises of God. He has not forsaken you. Be ready to act when He blesses you with a way out. Until then, know that He is working things out for your good.
