And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Galatians (NKJV)
I remember the time I was busy running my non-profit Changing the Buzz, Inc. while also running my business. I was faced with a particular challenge in my business. At one point I had allowed myself to become so frustrated that I felt like throwing in the towel and forgetting about the whole thing. However, that’s when things really got interesting.
For three days I kept getting the same message – “It’s not time to quit!”
On the first day, my morning devotional reading was about people who give up on their dreams.
The following day, I watched two different ministers on television and they both preached about quitting too soon.
Next, a friend emailed me an article that was all about encouraging business owners to hang in there when things got tough.
If I ever needed a fleece, the Lord sent me several.
Have you ever felt like giving up on school, a job or career, a business, or a relationship? Maybe you feel like giving up something or someone now. Before you do, here are a few things to consider.
As rational human beings, it’s sometimes easy to rationalize ourselves right out of doing something we know God has called us to do. We tell ourselves that if this were truly God’s will for our lives, things wouldn’t be so difficult. But that’s just not true.
The life of a Christian can sometimes offer challenges unbelievers never have to deal with. However, our Heavenly Father promises us, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.” (Isaiah 43:2)
God’s ways are not our ways.
I can get impatient when things do not happen the way I want them to, when I want them to. Next comes an unhealthy dose of frustration because things just do not seem to be working out. Then someone or something reminds me to trust God. He knows what’s best for me and you. Whatever happens in our lives, He allows it to happen. I often remind myself of the truth found in Romans 8:28. The Lord promises us that all things will work together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.
We serve a limitless God who can do anything.
That includes working out challenges in business, at work, at school, or at home.
If you know that God has told you that He wants you to start your own business, pursue a promotion, get your degree, or hang in there with your sick parent, do not give up. Galatians 6:9 encourages us not to grow weary in well-doing. See your situation through until the harvest is ready.
