Sometimes life can feel very difficult.
We live in a fallen world and our personal choices haven’t always been the best. Consequently, we’re often faced with situations that look impossible.
A look at scripture reveals many impossible situations as well. For instance:
Exodus 14:13-31
Impossible Situation: The Israelites had an army behind them and the Red Sea in front of them.
But God parted the waters for the children of Israel and destroyed Pharaoh’s army.
Judges 6:1-31
Impossible Situation: Samson messed up – he married a woman who was not a Jew and told her where his strength came from. She betrayed him; he lost his strength, was blinded, and used for sport by his captors.
But God gave him favor one last time, and he was able to destroy his enemies.
1 Samuel 17:1-58
Impossible Situation: Teenaged David with a slingshot challenging giant Goliath with a sword.
But God gave David victory as he struck Goliath in the forehead with his slingshot and a stone.
Esther 4:10-16; 5:1-3
Impossible Situation: Esther faced death in her decision to speak to the King on her people’s behalf.
But God moved the King’s heart to give her favor.
Matthew 8:23-27
Impossible Situation: Twelve men in a small boat fear for their lives in rough waters.
But with three little words – “Peace, be still!” – Jesus calmed the wind and waters.
Acts16:25-34
Impossible Situation: Paul and Silas were beaten and thrown into prison, facing death.
But God sent an earthquake that led to their jailer and his family’s conversions and Paul and Silas being set free.
In each instance, God was with his people. The wonderful and amazing thing to remember is that He’s with you too. His Word says that He will never leave you nor forsake you. (Joshua 1:5b) So no matter how bad things may look, because you gave your life to Jesus, you can be assured that He will always be with you – through the good times and the bad.
Stand firm and believe that God will deliver you.
Sometimes, He will remove you from the impossible situation. Other times, He’ll walk with you or carry you through a difficult time. Just remember that God always keeps His promises – He will never, ever leave you, forget about you, or forsake you.
I will never leave you nor forsake you.
Joshua 1:5b (NIV)
