Have you ever felt like you were waiting for something – a sign, a breakthrough, or the perfect moment – to finally step into what God has called you to do?
You’re not alone.
Many Christian women find themselves in a season of waiting.
- Waiting for clarity.
- Waiting for confidence.
- Waiting for everything to be “just right” before they move forward.
But if you’re honest with yourself, you know that the waiting isn’t really about God’s timing – it’s about fear, doubt, and hesitation.
But here’s the thing: you don’t have to wait for the “perfect moment” to walk in your purpose calling and assignment.
God isn’t waiting for you to be perfect.
He’s waiting for you to be willing.
What Are You Really Waiting For?
If you’ve been saying, “I’ll do it when I have more time” or “I’ll start when I feel more prepared,” it’s time to recognize those thoughts for what they are – a mindset rooted in fear.
Fear is not from God, but it’s one of the enemy’s favorite weapons to keep you from fulfilling your calling.
- Maybe you’ve been waiting for clarity, but God is saying, “Just trust Me.”
- Maybe you’ve been waiting for confidence, but God is saying, “Confidence comes after obedience, not before.”
- Maybe you’ve been waiting for perfection, but God is saying, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
What if the breakthrough you’re waiting for isn’t something God needs to do for you, but something He’s calling you to step into?
The Danger of Staying in “The Wait”
Waiting can feel safe. It gives you time to think, time to prepare, and time to avoid the discomfort of action.
But if you stay in “the wait” too long, it becomes a prison of your own making.
Think of Moses at the burning bush. When God called him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, he immediately came up with excuses. “Who am I to do this, Lord?” (Exodus 3:11) He listed all the reasons why he wasn’t qualified – his speech, his past, and his fear of rejection.
But God didn’t change His mind.
Instead, He said, “I will be with you.” (Exodus 3:12)
- If God is with you, what are you afraid of?
- If God is calling you, what are you waiting for?
The longer you stay in “the wait,” the more you allow fear, self-doubt, and perfectionism to take root in your heart.
But God didn’t create you to live in fear.
He created you to move forward in faith.
God’s Timing vs. Your Timing
I want to say this – there is a difference between waiting on God and waiting on yourself.
Sometimes God does ask us to be still and trust His timing. But there are times when what we call God’s waiting is really our own hesitation.
Look at the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14-30.
Each servant was given something valuable by the master, but one servant buried his talent in the ground. When the master returned, the servant explained, “I was afraid, so I hid it.”
Fear caused him to do nothing.
But the master rebuked him, saying, “You should have put my money to work.”
God has given you talents, gifts, and dreams not to bury them in fear, but to use them for His glory.
You don’t need a flashing neon sign from Heaven to start.
You already have God’s Word, His Spirit, and His promise that He will never leave you nor forsake you.
That’s all the confirmation you need.
What If You Took One Step Today?
I want you to try something.
Close your eyes and imagine what your life would look like if you stopped waiting.
- Imagine waking up with excitement instead of dread.
- Imagine knowing that you’re walking in your purpose, not just thinking about it.
- Imagine standing boldly in rooms you once felt unqualified to enter, knowing that God has equipped you for such a time as this.
You don’t have to do it all today.
You don’t have to have it all figured out.
But you can take one step.
- One phone call.
- One email.
- One prayer of surrender.
- One conversation with someone who can guide you – a mentor or a coach, for instance.
Sometimes, the biggest breakthroughs happen after you take one small step. Just like the Israelites crossing the Jordan River, the waters didn’t part until the priests put their feet in the water. (Joshua 3:15-16)
There are times that God only moves after you move.
No More Excuses
It’s time to call out the lies that have been holding you back.
- “I’m too old.” – No, you’re right on time. Look at Sarah, who gave birth at 90.
- “I don’t have enough experience.” – Neither did David when he defeated Goliath.
- “I’m afraid of failure.” – Failure isn’t final. Peter denied Jesus but He still called him the rock.
- “I don’t have support.” – You have the Holy Spirit as your guide, comforter, and strength.
Excuses sound valid when fear is doing the talking.
But when faith speaks, excuses lose their power.
God Has Called You. Period.
God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called.
And you are called.
- You are called to live fully, not halfway.
- You are called to be bold, not timid.
- You are called to walk in purpose, not wander in confusion.
2 Corinthians 5:7 says, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” Walking by faith means you won’t always see the full picture, but you step forward anyway, trusting that God will meet you there.
You don’t have to see the whole staircase to take the first step.
God is calling you out of waiting and into bold, faith-filled action.
